Big Profitt Springs Sparkling Tip Surprise At Hialeah Park
Francisco Raul Ramirez, Jr. Picks Up Mount, Poses For Win Photo After Sunday Feature
Hialeah, FL / February 21, 2016 – Wade Helton’s Big Profitt, a conditioned $10,000 claiming winner here on January 29 in his most recent start before today, closed best of all in a driving five-horse finish to win Sunday’s $21,750 Sparkling Tip Stakes by a nose over Jesstempting.
Big Profitt, a three-year-old gelding by Valiant Hero out of the Fishers Dash mare Ofishal, covered 300 yards in 15.591 under jockey Francisco Raul Ramirez, Jr., who was named on by trainer Fernando Carrete after scheduled jockey Raul Gutierrez took off his final three mounts of the afternoon.
The winner, bred in Texas by King Camden Running Horses, Inc., earned $13,702 for his third lifetime victory in his 5th career start. The winner’s share upped his total earnings to $30,910.
ENTRIES TAKEN FOR FINAL SUNDAY OF SEASON, SAM ABBEY AND SOUTH FLORIDA QH DERBY DRAW 10 EACH
The Hialeah Park racing office filled entries this morning for February 28, the final Sunday of the 2015-16 live Quarter Horse season, including the last six stakes races of the meet.
The ten-race card will be highlighted by an all-stakes Flamingo Six on races 5-10 starting with the Sailfish Stakes at 1,000 yards, continuing with the Beautiful Prairie Stakes, the Lucky Loser Stakes, the Miami-Dade County Stakes, the $204,265 South Florida Quarter Horse Derby, and ending with the $100,000 Sam Abbey Memorial.
The South Florida Quarter Horse Derby, at 440 yards, includes fastest qualifier Favored Fire and Hialeah Derby winner Ec Jet One. The Abbey Invitational, also at 440 yards, features Hialeah Maturity hero Moonin The Eagle.
ATTENDANCE & HANDLE NUMBERS ON PACE FOR RECORDS, NINTH WEEK ENDS WITH NINE RACES MONDAY
With the skies partly cloudy and the temperature warm, Hialeah Park hosted some 1,816 fans for the nine-race Sunday card. On-track patrons wagered a total of $42,516 and the all-sources handle totaled out at $417,506.
Hialeah Park closes out the ninth and penultimate week of its 10-week 2015-16 live racing season with nine-race card on Monday February 22. First post is at 12:35 PM ET, parking and admission are always free of charge.
