Hialeah, FL / January 3, 2016 – Not even a noticeable stumble out of the starting gate could keep the talented three-year-old filly She Looks Racy from winning Sunday’s 4th running of the Mockingbird Stakes at Hialeah Park.

The Texas-bred daughter of First Down Dash (Dash For Cash)-Miss Racy Jess (Mr Jess Perry) faced the starter for the first time since her near-miss third in the rich Dash For Cash Futurity at Lone Star Park on October 10, 2015.

Opening on the tote board at 1-9 and closing at 2-5 odds, She Looks Racy stumbled as the gates opened, quickly recovered under jockey Yordanis Amaro, took immediate control of the race in the first 100 yards, and went on to win the Mockingbird by 1 ¼ lengths over Sprinster.

The winner was clocked in a time of 13.259 seconds for the Mockingbird Stakes distance of 250 yards, earning a Speed Index of 92 for her effort.

She Looks Racy, bred by Johnny Trotter/Burnett Ranches and saddled to victory by trainer Elio Vazquez for the Double A Ranch, scored her third win in her fifth lifetime start. The winner’s share of $13,125 drove her career earnings to $71,632.

After She Looks Racy and runner-up Sprinster, the remaining order of finish in the 2016 Mockingbird Stakes was Regala de Amor, Eos Streakin Chicks and Burning For You in a dead heat for fourth, Love You Pappi, and Tres Sea. Brays American Honey, Bye Byefreighttrain, and Jess a Diva Chick were scratched.

Hialeah Park closes out the second week of its 10-week 2015-16 live racing season with an eight-race card on Monday January 4. First post is at 12:35 PM ET, parking and admission are always free of charge.
