Veteran Racing Exec Mike Anifantis Adds New Role At Hialeah

Anifantis Assumes Position As Director Of Racing At Iconic South Florida Facility,
Longtime Racing Executive Brings Wealth Of Experience Into Expanded Role

Hialeah, FL / April 14, 2015 – Highly regarded industry veteran Mike Anifantis, who served as Assistant Racing Secretary for the 2014-15 Quarter Horse season at Hialeah Park, will assume a new role as Director of Racing according to Vice President and General Manager Randy Soth.

“It’s such an honor to have a racing official of Mike’s caliber and stature join us at Hialeah Park,” commented Soth. “Not only is Mike a true gentleman, but he also brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table.”

Anifantis takes over for Matt Crawford, who has moved on after two seasons at Hialeah Park. Crawford replaced the late Sam Abbey, longtime Director of Racing at this landmark venue, prior to the start of the 2013-14 live racing season.

“I enjoyed my first season at Hialeah Park,” said Anifantis. “We had a great meet in terms of entries, exposure of the signal, and overall wagering.”

“We’ve set the bar much higher with the successes of the 2014-15 meet in the books,” he added. “We’ll work hard to improve on those numbers in 2015-16.”

Anifantis served as Racing Secretary at Calder Race Course from 2005-2014. He was among the 200 employees whose jobs were eliminated after Calder ceased racing operations last Summer.

The longtime racing office executive is no stranger to Quarter Horse racing. Anifantis spent eleven years at Remington Park, a track that offers both Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing.
