JA JESS ELEGANCE STRONG IN BISCAYNE WIN, TRAINER KEARL AND JOCKEY VALLEJO SCORE AGAIN

Hialeah, FL / January 19, 2014 – Joe Allen and Dallas Blakley’s Ja Jess Elegance, a three-year-old daughter of Mr Jess Perry (Streakin La Jolla)-Golly Zee (Gol), broke well, ran strongly, and finished best in winning Sunday’s featured $27,375 Biscayne Stakes at Hialeah Park.

Ja Jess Elegance, trained by Judd Kearl, saddled by assistant Bradley Mason, and ridden by Rodrigo Vallejo, bested Pm Runaway Dash (Heza Fast Dash-Runaway Oak) by half a length, with First Prize Linda (First Prize Perry-Linda Te Chick) finishing another half-length back in third.

Assistant trainer Mason said, “It was all in the break!” She broke well and that made the difference. We knew she could run well at 250 yards after her second-place finish in the Mockingbird Stakes (December 1, 2013).”

Ja Jess Elegance, bred in Texas by her owners, put up a respectable clocking of 13.091 seconds for 250 yards. She earned the winner’s share of $16,425 for her winning effort and upper her career earnings to $38,821.

She registered her 3rd victory in her 7th lifetime start and has now won races at three different tracks. The filly was sent to the post as a 6-5 favorite and returned $4.40 for a $2 wager.

The Biscayne victory gave the winning trainer/jockey tandem their second consecutive Sunday stakes score at Hialeah Park. They visited the winner’s circle a week ago on January 12 after Sure Shot B won the City of Hialeah.

After the first three finishers –Ja Jess Elegance, Pm Runaway Dash, and First Prize Linda– the remaining order of finish in the 2014 Biscayne Stakes was: Spittin Jessie, Supertanker, Blue Gene Harley, Ja Gols Playboy, Ja Gols Firebrand, and Stellar Scenestealer.

For the eighth consecutive Sunday of the 2013-14 Quarter Horse season at Hialeah Park, there was not a single-ticket winner in the Flamingo Six. That means the progressive jackpot –which goes to a bettor holding a lone winning Flamingo Six ticket on a Sunday– climbs to $45,000 on Sunday January 26.
