Entries Drawn For First Three Days, 40-Day Meet Features Racing Four Afternoons Weekly

Hialeah, FL / December 21, 2015 – Live Quarter Horse racing, featuring the runners known as “America’s Fastest Athletes,” returns to Hialeah Park on Saturday December 26, 2015 when this iconic South Florida landmark presents the opening day of its 40-day 2015-16 season.

Entries have already been drawn for the first three afternoons of racing as the track known the globe over as “the world’s most beautiful race course” continues to race on a four-day weekly schedule for the 7th season of live Quarter Horse racing in South Florida.
While the first four-day weekend runs from Saturday through Tuesday December 29, Hialeah Park will host live racing Fridays through Mondays for the other nine weeks of the season.

“Entries went well and our opening day card came up solid,” said Racing Secretary Mike Anifantis. “We carded nine races, each with at least 8 horses. We had 36 horses enter in four Hialeah Maturity trials. The Bienvenido de Nuevo Stakes drew nine horses, including proven Hialeah Park stakes winner and recent Bank of America Challenge Championship winner Daytona B.”

As for Daytona B, trainer Rolando Almanza –who conditions the talented son of First Down Dash for owner Gregorio Garcia Garza– expects his gelding to run well in the first start since his big Challenge Championship win at Lone Star Park on November 7.

“He should be ready for a good race. His owner thought maybe we could run in some races at Sunland Park, but the horse was already in Florida. He really likes it here anyway and he won the Sam Abbey Memorial last meet.”

First post time every racing day during the 2015-16 season, which runs through Monday February 29, 2016, is at 12:35 PM ET. As always, Hialeah Park offers free admission and free parking.

Hialeah Park Racing & Casino, with entrances at 100 East 32nd Street and 2200 East 4th Avenue, is easily accessible from all major Miami highways and conveniently located just minutes by car from Miami International Airport, South Beach, Downtown Miami, Coral Gables, and Doral.
